As you progress through the modpack, you might need to obtain mob drops to progress further. Mobs also drop reliquary items that will be needed for quite a bit of recipes and for late-game quests.

Hostile Mobs

Before trying to build a mob farm make sure you aren't located in a deep ocean biome because hostile mobs won't be able to spawn there, you can use Drop of Evil to make a mob farm, see "Advanced Hostile Mob Farming"

Hostile mob drops can be obtained by buying hostile mob crates as well.

Conditions for hostile mobs to spawn:

  • Dark room with light level 0.

  • • The spawning area should not be less than 25 blocks away from the players island and should be at least 30 blocks high (the height limit only applies if you are making the classic mob farm).

  • Make sure you are not in any ocean biome; if you are, you can try bridging out to see if you have any other biome nearby. If you are stuck in the ocean biome, see "Advanced Hostile Mob Farming".

Passive Mobs

Passive mobs are generally easier to obtain than hostiles because the modpack offers a lot of ways on how to obtain them.

  1. The classic way of making a grass platform around the size of 8×8 at least 25 blocks far from your island but no more than 128.

  2. You can obtain mob spawn eggs from the Market Block.

  3. By using SBC, you can buy passive mob crates that have a chance to let you obtain a random passive mob.

Advanced Hostile Mob Farming

  • The following screenshots will showcase some quests that contain perfect items for making your mob farm even better.

Item Collectors

Item collectors let players safely collect all of their mob drops even through walls.

Spikes, Drop of Evil, Muffler, Vector Plates

Spikes:

  • Deals damage and kills mobs, leaving behind their drops, as if they were killed by a player.

Drop of Evil:

  • Transforms grass blocks into cursed earth, which spawns hostile mobs with insane speeds.

Muffler:

  • Mutes sounds near the player.

Vector plates:

  • Moves mobs into the desired direction/space.

Mob Crusher

  • Great way of how to kill mobs efficiently; range addons are recommended in order to get the maximum potential out of this machine. You can export items out of it by using either Mekanism or Ender IO pipes.

Powered Spawner

  • Powered spawners are great at ensuring you can spawn mobs you actually need.
