Tinkers' Construct is encouraged since the beginning of the modpack, since, as you learned, all your vanilla tools are practically useless. But since it's one of the first major mods being thrown at the player, it can get confusing or overwhelming. So this page will guide you through the first Tinkers' tables and their mechanics.

Information about materials that can be used for making tools can be found in its guide book called "Materials and You"

Basic Tool Materials

Possible without smeltery - Most nonmetal materials, like wood or cobblestone

Only with smeltery - Metal Materials, like iron or cobalt

Tinkers' Tables

Stencil Table

The purpose of stencil tables is to be used to make patterns for tool parts. On the left side, select a pattern and place a blank pattern into the table to make a pattern for tool parts shown on the screen.

Part/Pattern Chest

Pattern chests can be used to store individual finished parts, and pattern chests can be used to store patterns, not blank patterns.

Tool Station

Tool Station will most likely be a table you will use the most; it's used to apply upgrades to tools. You can see the possible upgrades within the Tinkers' guidebook. You can also craft/build tools in this table.

To build a tool:

Select the tool you are trying to craft on the right side and place all the correct components on the grid.

To upgrade a tool:

Select the first box in the left grid, place a tool into the middle of the Tool Station, and apply upgrades by using the surrounding slots.

To fix a tinker's tool:

This only works if the tool you are trying to repair is placed into the middle of the table, and you place the material it was made with into any of the surrounding slots.
